How have we supported our clients differently during the pandemic?

Over the last 18 months, most businesses have had to adapt, and technology has played a key role in enabling this change. A strong IT infrastructure has been of paramount importance to supporting businesses in a time of rapid change.

One of our latest blogs, How have IT infrastructures changed over the last year, highlighted how technology has played a vital role in accelerating growth within the economy but what about the changes that we have also had to make to meet our client’s needs.

We believed that genuinely addressing our clients’ needs was not only necessary but an opportunity to also strengthen our partnerships and relationships further.

Change in working hours

Whilst most of our clients have been WFH (working from home) we noticed that their working hours therefore also changed.  Often our clients were working later into the evenings, replacing time usually taken by commuting.

Working longer and often during those hours outside of the usual working day meant that we also needed to change our service desk shift patterns.  We adapted and moved timings so that we had more staff available later into the evening.  This change ensured that our engineers were available at the time when our clients needed them most.

The Finance sector operates 24/7 and we continued to operate our critical alert process with auto-escalation to senior management for those most critical systems.

Our goal is to build partnerships with our clients and to always act as an internal IT department and adapt to our clients’ new ways of working remains important as we transition again into hybrid working models.

Expanding corporate security software to home and personal devices

It has been widely reported that there has been an increase in cyber security attacks over the last few years, so increasing security, particularly in the financial sector, remains a priority for Tribeca Technology Group.

With most clients moving to working from home, we needed to expand corporate security to home and personal devices.  For those clients with a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) working model, we extended security software in use in the corporate environment into home networks.

In response to this increase in related risks to our clients, we have also increased the number of tools and provisions we have in place to secure their IT systems. As well as these tools we have started to build a dedicated security team that will continue to grow in size and support for our clients over the next six months.

Continuing to move clients to cloud-based infrastructures

A number of our clients have expressed an interest in expanding their Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.  With so many changes in progress, be that continuing to work from home, flexible or a hybrid working solution or the need to introduce hot desking each client’s system requires to be as up to date as possible.

A key benefit of moving to such a system is allowing staff to work wherever they have an internet connection, from whatever device they prefer, whilst ensuring the virtual desktop environment is secure and managed in line with company policy.

With working in an office no longer being the norm many of our clients are rethinking their office space requirements. By moving their services to the cloud, they gain the flexibility to relocate, shrink, grow, or even split singular headquarters into smaller satellite offices, all with minimal risk and little to no downtime.

We will always adapt

We have learnt a lot over the last 18 months, as have our clients.  Choosing the right IT partner so that your team can work without any issues, as highlighted in our blog Specialist IT Partner VS General IT Support, will give you that solid IT infrastructure and allow you to pivot, quickly, at a time of extreme change.

At Tribeca, we understand that businesses in the financial services sector are more reliant on their IT infrastructures, and we are always proactive in our approach.  To find out more go to www.tribeca-it.com.
